Title: Employed full time: Usual weekly nominal earnings (first quartile): Wage and salary workers: Bachelor's degree and higher: 25 years and over: Black or African American Series ID: LEU0254940600A Source: U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics Release: Weekly and Hourly Earnings from the Current Population Survey (Not a Press Release) Seasonal Adjustment: Not Seasonally Adjusted Frequency: Annual Units: Dollars Date Range: 2000-01-01 to 2023-01-01 Last Updated: 2024-01-18 9:05 AM CST Notes: Data measure usual weekly earnings of wage and salary workers. Wage and salary workers are workers who receive wages, salaries, commissions, tips, payment in kind, or piece rates. The group includes employees in both the private and public sectors but, for the purposes of the earnings series, it excludes all self-employed persons, both those with incorporated businesses and those with unincorporated businesses. Usual weekly earnings represent earnings before taxes and other deductions and include any overtime pay, commissions, or tips usually received (at the main job in the case of multiple jobholders). Prior to 1994, respondents were asked how much they usually earned per week. Since January 1994, respondents have been asked to identify the easiest way for them to report earnings (hourly, weekly, biweekly, twice monthly, monthly, annually, or other) and how much they usually earn in the reported time period. Earnings reported on a basis other than weekly are converted to a weekly equivalent. The term "usual" is determined by each respondent's own understanding of the term. If the respondent asks for a definition of "usual," interviewers are instructed to define the term as more than half the weeks worked during the past 4 or 5 months. For more information see https://www.bls.gov/cps/earnings.htm The series comes from the 'Current Population Survey (Household Survey)' The source code is: LEU0254940600 DATE VALUE 2000-01-01 546 2001-01-01 577 2002-01-01 581 2003-01-01 584 2004-01-01 595 2005-01-01 595 2006-01-01 626 2007-01-01 628 2008-01-01 644 2009-01-01 653 2010-01-01 674 2011-01-01 695 2012-01-01 682 2013-01-01 705 2014-01-01 686 2015-01-01 682 2016-01-01 712 2017-01-01 708 2018-01-01 723 2019-01-01 761 2020-01-01 806 2021-01-01 809 2022-01-01 910 2023-01-01 934
