The weekly index of retail prices is benchmarked to the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA) chain-weighted price index and seasonally adjusted. The index summarizes weekly data on gasoline prices and monthly and weekly measures of online prices. The BEA monthly chain-weighted price index for retail and food services prices excluding motor vehicles and parts (excluding auto) was discontinued in July 2024, which meant that no further data for this index was available after May 2024. The CARTS Projection is the monthly average of the Weekly Index of Retail Prices from June 2024 onward. Weeks are constructed using 48-week annual calendar.
