Data Reported To The Rubber Manufacturers' Association (Rma) Were Raised To Industry Totals By Them. NBER Compared Published Data Directly With Rma Files. A Large Volume Of Shipments Undoubtedly Were Caused By A U.S. Excise Tax On Manufacturers' Sales, Which Went Into Effect On June 30, 1932.
