Ellieroth and Michaud (EM) share of workers who leave the labor force due to a layoff tracks the percentage of U.S. workers who transition from employment to non-participation after a layoff compared to the total layoffs into non-employment. Since all layoffs end in either unemployment or non-participation, one minus this time series will be the share of workers who leave into unemployment due to a layoff.
